Meet Kris Williams…
Kris Williams is the brilliant visionary behind FAME Enterprises & MADE Magazine. This stylish go-getter is the epitome of an Epic Fab Girl; she’s faith-focused, business-minded, fabulous and down to earth. In this interview, Kris shares her 7 year journey in entrepreneurship. This insightful session she gives us an insider’s ear about how she quit her job in Corporate America to become a full-time entrepreneur, and she shares her successes and mishaps along the way. This is a refreshing, inspirational story that’ll keep you motivated and remind you that when you have faith and trust God with your vision, nothing is impossible!
A little bit about Kris…
Kris is a Howard University graduate and Memphis, TN native who initially launched her career in Investment Banking. After graduating and working in Corporate America for a few years, she decided to pursue her passion as a full-time entrepreneur. Kris wasn’t new to entrepreneurship, as she started a jewelry company, Couture by Kristin, while in undergrad. While she had to let go of Couture by Kristin while working full-time, once she left Corporate America she was able to truly pursue her purpose.
Since leaving her job, Kris has been able to start FAME Enterprises which allowed for many of her passions to collide. FAME Enterprises is a conglomerate that houses FAME IMC (a brand solutions agency), FAME Studios (a creative studio), FAME Events (an event production and management company), and MADE Magazine (a print and digital publication for millennials of color with interests in Entertainment, Lifestyle and Entrepreneurship). The best thing about Kris’ story is that this is only the beginning!
Kris shares with us…
Kris stresses the importance of having a vision and being surrounded by the right people who push you to be better. Not only that, but she emphasizes the importance of consistently learning and trusting God with your vision.
In moments when she’s been down, Kris has used affirmations, uplifting bible verses and vision boards to keep her motivated. It was the low moments that taught her how to be resourceful and consistent with her vision.
“There’s no such thing as an overnight success. It wasn’t quick!… It took a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice.”
Kris tells us how while developing her skill-set and building her business, she learned how to stay faithful, encourage herself, and stay positive even when things weren’t poppin’ quite yet. Kris was extremely transparent about the realities of building a business from the ground up, but reminds us that we have to trust that God is always going to work things out!
“People think it’s cute and sexy. This is not SEXY, it’s only sexy on Instagram! That’s not real life! It’s hard and it takes a long time!”
