Imagine you finally overcame your fears and started your inspirational blog to encourage women. You’re excited, but there is only one issue; you don’t have a huge audience. At first, you’re cool about it but as you watch others blossom with thousands of followers on Instagram, you begin to feel that you don’t and never will have an impact.
Don’t worry, no matter if you have 100, or 25,000 followers you can make an impact and here’s how.
Give Value
Provide value for your current audience. You may want to save the good stuff until you reach a high following count, however, it is important that you provide value to the crowd that you currently have. Others that you admire increased their audience by giving them information. Are you sharing your expertise? What could you teach them? What tips could you offer that would enhance their lives? Take intentional time to see how you can offer value to your audience.
Be Consistent
When you don’t have a big audience, you may not feel that it is important to post with consistency. You may go weeks or months without posting on social media. But being consistent shows your audience that you are serious about the information that you are providing and that you are reliable.
Start Where You Are
I am a recovering perfectionist. It took months for me to start uploading video content because it did not mirror the influencers who have been doing it for years. As a result, I didn’t produce content. My insecurities took away from what I had to offer my audience. What I failed to realize is that influence came from every step of my journey. For those that were afraid to start, seeing a video from someone beginning inspired them that they too could start doing videos. That they connected with my message on a different level because where I was starting felt out of reach for them.
Think about it this way, we all want Beyoncé body (or at least most of us). And for many of us, that goal seems like a distant dream. However, if there is someone just starting their journey and lost 5 pounds. I will feel inspired to action because I felt that it is something that I can do.
In this social media world that we live in, you may be focused on your follower count. When it is not where others are, you will feel that your impact doesn’t matter. Today I want to remind you that it does. You are out here changing lives. Individuals are inspired by your work. Keep going sis! You got this! It is time to maximize your impact!
