Sis, I want you to know that you are loved, and since you walk in God’s love through faith in His resurrected son Christ, I need you to know something critical to the life of your business.
THIS BUSINESS IS NOT YOURS. IT BELONGS TO THE LORD.
Yes, I wrote that in all caps, but I want to make sure you get it.
Indeed you may have paid for the LLC, composed the business plan and made laborious sacrifices to get this baby out to the world. However, my love, understand these words, by the grace of God, your baby belongs to Him.
As children we are asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” alluding to our future mindset.
For Christians the question is how does our eternal identity as children of light (Ephesians 5:8) inform our lives now? Please consider that since our lives are no longer our own (Jeremiah 10:23), neither are our businesses but His (Proverbs 16:3). Daunting? Sure!
But in Christ we can trust that we are taken care of far better than the birds of the sky and the lilies of the field (Matthew 6: 2533).
We may live in a society that finds it completely normal to privately adhere to our faith only in Sunday service. However, our faith is not an event. It is a lived identity and lifestyle. We are daughters of God. He is the potter and we are the clay (Isaiah 64:8).
Therefore, as He molds us as vessels, whatever we do in deed we do in the LORD (Colossians 3:17) trusting that His ways and thoughts are better and higher than ours (Isaiah 55:89) and for our good.
While the businesses of the world may be grounded in the temporal, ours are grounded on the eternal rock anchored in righteousness and goodness. We will not be lead astray. Truly, what wondrous love is this?!
There are 3 ways to be grounded in this truth:
1. Align your purpose and services with God and for His kingdom, showing love to others (Matthew 22:3739; Colossians 3:14)
2. Prioritize daily prayer, study and meditation of the Word as self care (Joshua 1:8)
3. Create faith based boundaries and principles in light of future partnerships (Psalm 114).
Since we have the Spirit within us, we can bear its fruit, trusting that in them we cannot go wrong (Galatians 5:2223) no matter what, sis.
Always with love, Shirls
