“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
This is one of those scriptures that sticks out to me. I had to gain an understanding of it and what it means in prayer time with God. It’s vital to be still in the presence of God and allow Him to speak to you. I had to work on being still in the presence of God and wait until he responded back. There are times when the Lord encourages me right in the moment of stillness. Whenever I’m sad, angry or allow my feelings to get the best of me, He is right there comforting me.
It took me a while to just be still in His presence because I’ll admit, I’m impatient. We have been called “the microwave generation”, and it’s true. We are so impatient we don’t have the desire to wait on anything, and that’s exactly how we treat God. We can’t even sit before the Lord for 15 minutes. The Lord requires us to wait and that’s something we don’t have the willingness to do. You have to learn to be still before God and wait patiently on Him.
I want to challenge you to be still and trust God because He knows what he’s doing. It’s in the moment of stillness that the Lord reassures you He loves you, that you are beautiful and enough. There are so many distractions and so much noise happening around you, but you must sit before the Lord with complete silence and allow him to strengthen you. Be still and know He’s God. Find a quiet place, and let God speak to you.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently before Him.” (Psalm 37:7)
