How to Get More Followers on Instagram Fast! 4 Simple Tricks
Learning how to get followers on instagram fast can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be! You don’t have to buy followers to get Instagram followers fast. I’m going to share how you can get real Instagram followers on Instagram. Instagram is a great, free marketing tool that can help you build your brand even if you don’t have a huge marketing budget.
[January 2021 Update: I wrote this article in 2020 long before my following on Instagram skyrocketed, so I’m going to share a few bonus tips that are relevant in 2021. I even share how I went from 13K Instagram followers to 52K Instagram followers rather quickly.]
Before we get started, I want to make sure you have an Instagram Business Account. This is the best way to build your brand on Instagram and get good success with it.
I’m going to share with you a little more about how we have been able to build Epic Fab Girl’s Instagram and grow our Instagram audience by 2,500+ users organically within a few short months.
Here are 4 things you should try to get real followers on Instagram.
1. Use 30 Hashtags to get real followers on Instagram
To get more followers on Instagrams, you want to try to get Instagram likes. Hashtags help your Instagram posts gain more exposure, and, ultimately more Instagram likes. You want to make sure you’re using all of the hashtags that Instagram allows. You have a maximum of 30 hashtags per post.
Your strategy for hashtags should include a mixture of specific hashtags, super specific hashtags, and extremely specific hashtags. All of your hashtags should be relevant to your brand or the picture to make the most out of the hashtag strategy.

2. Engage with ACTIVE real Instagram followers of Similar Accounts
To get real Instagram followers fast, this is one of our secrets! Engagement with other Instagram accounts allows you to be seen by real Instagram users who may be interested in your brand.
One of the ways I’m able to engage with real followers of similar accounts is by liking and commenting on specific users’ posts. How do I find these users?
For example, if I have a hair extensions company for black women, I would go to an account such as Essence and engage with their ACTIVE followers. Here’s how you do that:
- Click on Essence’s most recent posts.
- Click on the comments section.
- Find users that left comments that you are a fan of.
- Go like and comment on a few of those users’ posts.
This method really helps you build your audience, but it only works if the audience of the other account is actually similar to your brand.
It’s important to only engage with people when you have a strong brand and quality pictures on your Instagram.
3. Use a Call to Action to Tag a Friend in your Instagram Post
A “call to action” is something that invites your follower to engage with your picture. One of the best ways to get other people to pay attention to your brand is to use these simple words in the caption of your post “Tag a friend…”.
You can have variations of this such as:
- Tag a friend who would love this
- Tag a friend who means the world to you
- YOU GET THE POINT… FILL IN THE BLANK!
Here’s a great example that has gotten us great engagement and has grown our brand.
4. Plan Your Instagram Content & Post Consistently
One of the best ways to grow your Instagram following is to be CONSISTENT. You have to consistently post relevant content for your audience to engage with so that you can consistently grow your brand.
One of the ways you can easily manage, plan and automate your content is with an automation tool like Planoly, Later, or Sprout Social to organize your content and plan your posts. When you’re posting daily, there are more opportunities for others to like and comment on your posts. Every time someone likes or comments on your posts, your friends are able to see that. If your content is really good, you may even get some reposts!

5. Create Video Content Using Instagram Reels
In December of 2019, I had 10.9K followers on Instagram. By February of 2020, I had 11.2K followers on Instagram. My instagram following grew quickly, but I was not ready for how fast it grew after that!
By September of 2020, I had grown my Instagram account to around 13K followers, and by December 31, 2020, I grew my following to 25K. I grew my followers fast. By March of 2021, I had 45K followers and eventually hit 50K followers later that year.
How did I grow my followers so fast? By creating Instagram Reels. I created several Instagram Reels that went viral and grew my Instagram following quickly. Instagram Reels really helps you get your content in front of more people. Don’t sleep on Instagram Reels for Instagram growth.
6. Post Relevant Instagram Content to Attract Your Target Audience
One major, important step when creating content is to post relevant content to your audience to grow your Instagram followers fast. I was able to attract a larger audience by creating Instagram Reels content based on the target audience I was trying to attract.
For example, for my business, I help service based business owners make money online, so I created relevant content to help entrepreneurs and that’s what attracted them and ultimately went viral.
