Purpose is birthed after seeing, experiencing and desiring something that this world is currently lacking.
What industry will you serve?
Who will you serve?
What problems are you solving?
What’s your why?
How will you make an impact on this world?
These are questions that must be answered when starting a brand and as your brand thrives. The answers to those questions will sustain you when you feel as though you want to give up. So many people pursue profit without purpose and then wonder why the business never reaches its full potential. I am one who has always believed that if you do what you love, the money will come. I never wanted to just chase dollars because all money is not good money. To be honest, money does not buy happiness and even happiness is only based on the external things of life. Instead, I am seeking joy. The type of joy that the world did not give me and the world cannot take away. I wanted to chase calling that God has on my life. That calling produced a purpose, that purpose produced a brand, and the brand produced profits.
Your purpose should be beyond
- profit
- ego
- credentials (although credentials assist in fulfilling purpose)
Your purpose should be rooted in
- serving
- investing in the lives of others
- solving people’s most pressing problems
- why you started your brand
Know that building a brand is no easy task. However, when the brand is built on a solid foundation of selflessness rather than self-seeking purpose, the profits and impact come. Sis, choose to relentlessly pursue purpose because it is what you were created and born to do.
